Cooking 101

To those of you that saw the title and thought to yourself “Oooo, I’m excited to see what type of chicken recipe Lance is going to post”, I deeply apologize. Maybe next time.

Put on your favorite Martha Stewart Apron and let’s get cooking!

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Spray an 8-inch square pan with pam.

Put the honey in a microwave-safe bowl and heat for ~60 seconds. It should be runny with tiny bubbles.

Add cocoa, mix with a fork, and let it cool.

In a separate bowl (or in my case a pan because my other bowl is at the neighbors) whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.

In ANOTHER bowl, combine/whisk applesauce, oil, egg and vanilla until blended.

Add honey-cocoa mixture and whisk until smooth (or draw circles in it and take pictures).

Add flour and… MIX!

Place into square pan.

Cook for ~25 minutes, or until edges are dry and toothpick comes out clean.

Pretty tasty! Very soft/spongy/moist, so not as tough as regular brownies.

The crazy part is it is sitting in an aluminum can I think? haha No clue what the “full of aluminum” baking powder does to you.

Weekend Wrap Up

Friday Chris and I went to Adam’s to play some xbox (that didn’t really happen), grill burgers and watch The Crazies.

On Saturday we went bowling with Stephanie and Bill. I struggled the first game but I redeemed myself in game #2. As always, jokes were on me most of the night because I came prepared with my two balls and shoes. (The first game didn’t help either.) Thanks to the camera, the scores are posted for all to see at the bottom.

From a photography standpoint, it was very difficult taking photos. The lighting during the approach was rather dim but the lighting right at the foul line was extremely bright. The difference made it difficult to expose for all of the shots.

*Sniff* Mmmmm

My neighbors have these flowers planted. This sunflower (at least I assume that’s what it is) is gigantic. I went over today to take some pictures of it, then noticed the purple/yellow ones in a pot.

Rawr

Because of the workouts I’ve been doing, I bought some rubber interlocking tiles to put in my living room so I don’t have to worry about sweat getting on the laminate flooring. It also keeps me from jumping and pounding my shoes all over the nice floor.

Of course what do you think happened the moment I put it down? KO decided it was a GREAT surface to dig his claws into. After I noticed claw marks in multiple tiles, I decided to do something about it. At first I put bed sheets down, but that’s not only ugly, but a hassle. (And when I came home after work, he dug into the bed sheets anyway…which means he also dug into the tiles…) I was going to get some spray that you use daily, but again, too much work. Solution? Back to soft claws! I have used these before but I stopped for some reason. Maybe because I got rid of the couch that he tore up. Now that all 10 front nails are covered, one will fall off randomly and I’ll have to replace it, but it’ll be easy maintenance as I’ll only have to do one at a time.

They only had mixed colors, unless I wanted clear…which would be too boring. So I went with grey/blue. The only other options was pink with glitter… And since I think KO is going to be the only one that would claw the flooring, I’m not attempting to put the nails on MJ yet.

Yawn

Just some random shots. Poor KO, I guess he was curious about the flash on the ground. He might be blind now?

These two were painted over in the entry. They used to be red/blue.

You can see them in this picture by the front door:

Saturday we went zip-lining at Wired in Canton, TX. It was pretty cool. They took some pictures there so hopefully they’ll be posted online in the next couple of days. We are now on the lookout for a course that has more runs, is higher and faster.
