Warrior Dash

I participated in the Warrior Dash race on Saturday. It was such a blast. I had to wade through knee/waist deep water, run through a shin deep river, climb over cable spools, slide down a mud slope, climb up a mud slope, climb up/down a cargo net, swim about 50 yards, jump over fire and crawl in mud under barbed wire. It was supposed to be a 3.5 mile course but I heard it was actually 3.2. I finished somewhere around 35 minutes, I’m waiting for the times to be posted online.

Thanks to Chris and Paula for going with me to the event. They got free beer so it was a win for them. And thanks to Chris for taking pictures!

Everyone got a T-Shirt and one of these Warrior Hats.

We were watching what was going on before my wave. After the event, you wait by a water truck to get sprayed off.

At the start of each wave they lit these fire stands off. When we were standing by them when we got there we had no clue these things shoot flames. We all jumped pretty good I think. :)

The guy on the right had some prosumer Canon with him. It was caked in mud.

You’ll notice I’m jumping the flames on the left. On the right, we are done with the flames and these people have smiles on their faces. Seriously, I was about ready to just call it quits, I don’t know how they were happy.

But when I got to the mud crawl under barbed wire I somehow managed to crack a smile and have fun.

At the end I don’t know if it was sweat or mud, but my eyes were stinging like crazy.

You can see how thick the mud was on me. At the water truck, the guy in the middle was randomly flinging water everywhere. It made for a long wait to finally get hosed off.

Until next year!

Public Transit

Paula needed to attend an information session for nursing in Dallas so I said I would go with her so I could walk around and take pictures. We left early in the morning and took the Trinity Railway Express and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit busses. Good thing I had my phone with Google Maps because we got off the train at the wrong spot so I had to use my phone to find bus routes and stops. It was very cool, and I’m glad we were able to get to the meeting spot on time.

This guy would walk around and stop at trees, reach his arm up, pet the leaves for 20 seconds, then continue on his journey.

We looked up places to eat on my phone and this is the first joint we wanted to go to. After walking 4 blocks, we found out that it was recently broken in to. The signs were on inside, but all of the chairs were upside-down on the tables. The door was open from when it was broken in to. We were there at about 12:30 I think, and the place was supposed to have opened at 11.

And Then There Were Two

For the last part of the day, Kwyn had an idea for shots. The last pic is what remains after everyone has left Texas.

The King’s Last Day

For Kwyn’s last day here we decided to hit up various places. We started off by eating at Five Guy’s Burgers and Fries. Then we headed to the Grapevine Antique Mall & Guitars where we saw a $12,900 bass guitar hanging on the wall that little kids could poke at/pick up. Crazy. We headed to Grapevine Mills mall to do a little shopping, then we took a drink break at the Gaylord Texan Resort. We had a good time drinking and sitting in their bar “recliners” while watching some basketball/nascar. We took some photos in the atrium, then we headed to BestBuy to pick up some crap. We then met Chris for some awesome fondue at The Melting Pot followed by some Wii playing at Chris’ house.

Snowday

For some reason it decided to snow today. We hit up Babe’s for some fried chicken. Lighting was horrible and I refused to use the flash, so I made everyone stand still for a second. Go figure I move the most.

GP

Thursday we decided to have a garage party and grill out. We made margaritas and pina coladas with a Ninja Master Prep that I picked up at Bed Bath & Beyond. Thanks to their 20% coupon that they send me twice a week it seems like, AND the item randomly being 20% off, I scored it for $34! It does a decent job too. Hands down the Margaritaville® Bahamas™ Frozen Concoction™ Maker will always be the best, but for $34 the Ninja was a steal. It only left tiny amounts of ice chunks in the drink.

Friday we decided to go shopping and around the mall there were four geocaches we decided to hunt. We were 75%, finding 3 of the 4. The best one was by Lake Grapevine off in a woods. We had to hike about 640 yard to get to the cache, let alone find it. (Good eye Geren!)
